This Privacy statement sets out our approach in relation to privacy and the protection of personal data.
Accountability of those holding and using Personal Data is the founding principle of both Regulation EU 2016/679 of the European Parliament and the Council of 27th April 2016 (more commonly known as the “GDPR”) and many other data protection regimes globally.
Based on our ethical values regarding the fundamental human right to privacy, and keenly aware of the importance of the rules on protecting personal data and privacy and the risks run in the event of data breaches, Equans pledges to protect such data and privacy. It is mandating this Privacy Statement to underpin its actions and support the fair and lawful collection and usage of Personal Data by members of the EQUANS Group.
For the purposes of this Privacy statement, “Personal Data” is information about a living person who can be identified directly or indirectly, by referring to an identification number or to one or more elements specific to him/her (e.g. surname, first name, social security number, email address, IP address, etc.).
Equans processes Personal Data relating to its employees, customers, partners, service providers and suppliers in the course of its daily activities (personnel management, prospect and customer solutions management, etc.). It also processes Personal Data to meet statutory requirements.
Consequently, Equans finds itself increasingly exposed to the risks of inappropriate internal or external Processing or sharing of Personal Data, potentially leading to a loss of confidence by both (potential) customers and employees as well as the risk of significant fines and penalties.
We see Data governance as a key component of its accountability framework, requiring local EQUANS entities in the countries where we are represented to put in place and implement a local version of Equans Policy and associated procedures (adjusted for any local data protection requirements).
This Privacy statement does not sit in isolation but forms part of a much broader data governance and accountability regime. Personal Data must also be protected through following other Equans policies and procedures.
